Interior architectural design combines elements of architecture and interior design to create a more harmonious, functional and visually pleasing home environment. Interior architects approach designing the interior of your home the same way an architect would approach designing the overall structure, considering factors like space, environment, scale, and location. They are also familiar with building codes, construction methods, construction materials, and internal wiring, ensuring that aesthetic changes are also practical and functional.

As part of Riverside's interior architectural design service, licensed interior architect Augusta French begins working with you at the start of your project, reviewing preliminary house plans and exchanging ideas about how they could be enhanced to best match your lifestyle and how you plan to use the new space.

Augusta also has a broad understanding of the great variety of materials, products, and finishes that can enhance a home's appearance. She works closely with each client to determine what selections will best match a home's look and feel as well as their budget and personal style.

She can assist you with decisions and selections including:

  • adding or removing non-structural walls
  • wall colors and trim
  • architectural products and materials
  • flooring
  • lighting
  • size and placement of windows
  • cabinet design and layout
  • room adjustments to accommodate special pieces of furniture
  • positioning of electric and cable outlets
  • appliances
Riverside Builders has CAD (computer aided design) capability, so alterations can be completed without retaining the additional services of an architect.

Once construction begins, Augusta regularly visits each site to keep an eye out for things that need to be adjusted as the project develops. If the spacing between stairway spindles needs to be adjusted, wainscoting needs to be leveled, or walls need to be touched up, the issue will be addressed, in most cases, before the client has had a chance to notice it.
